Food Revolution Day
In Coordination
with The Jamie Oliver Foundation’s Food Revolution Day,
Morris County Park
Commission Presents Food Culture Revolution
First-ever day of
action marks commitment to food education in communities, schools, and
businesses worldwide.
WHAT: Morris County Park Commission is hosting Food
Revolution Day in conjunction with The Jamie Oliver Foundation. It is
a global initiative to stand up for real food. “Thousands of people worldwide
will participate in events to raise awareness on preventing diet-related
diseases, and to arm people with the knowledge and tools to make healthier food
choices.”
Enjoy fun fitness activities across Fosterfields Living Historical Farm,
including nature walks, 20-minute exercise routines designed for all ages, and
Charleston Dance lessons. Listen to a variety of lectures beginning at the top
of every hour with topics ranging from Genetically Modified Organisms to
childhood obesity awareness to the benefits of a raw vegetarian diet.
Demonstrations and cooking tutorials are given every hour on a variety of
cooking topics. Activities are ongoing throughout the day so guests can stop by
for just one activity, or enjoy the entire celebration!
All ages are invited to celebrate
food, history, culture and healthy cooking at Food Revolution Day. Grow it
Green Morristown will be participating in all of the events. Other local
wellness and cultural organizations are also participating.
WHY:
“The majority of the world’s population is more likely to die from obesity than
from hunger. In fact, in America, more people die from diet-related diseases
every year than drugs, alcohol, and war combined. Kids are growing up
overweight and malnourished from a diet of processed foods.”
WHEN:
On Saturday, May 19 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Fosterfields Living
Historical Farm 73 Kahdena Road, Morristown, NJ.
COST:
Admission for the Food Revolution Day is FREE. Guests of all ages are
invited to celebrate this day. While attending the event, guests have access to
tour the
farm for regular admission costs,$6 for adults, $5 for seniors (+65), $4 for
children ages 4- 16, $2 for children ages 2 and 3, and
FREE for children under 2.
