Steampunk Festival Comes to Morristown
MORRISTOWN, NJ – Calling all Steampunks and lovers of history to a weekend-long immersion festival…in the mid-1880s. Experience a rare opportunity to use a unique blend of history and science to walk through time. You only need to imagine a world much different from what we know; a world of machines, gears, and springs powered by steam. This is International Steampunk City: Steampunk at Speedwell, an event set in a time period of unknown origins at Historic Speedwell in Morristown, on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12 from 12 noon to 6 p.m. All experienced Steampunks and history lovers or those who want to be amazed can enjoy this truly exceptional weekend-long festival.

Historic Speedwell invites you to sample the latest advances in temporal exploration, capable of bringing your favorite moments in time directly to you. Arrive at registration wearing your favorite Victorian or Steampunk day-wear! To truly experience this immersion opportunity to its fullest, enjoy one-of-a-kind shopping experiences, take part in the varied discussions and workshops, and watch the demonstrations of crafts and trades. There are musicians, performers, and entertainers. This is an event not to be missed by any respectable adventurer, anachronologist, or temporal voyager!

Take part in a thematic guided tour that features the historic Vail House, discover the newly installed interactive exhibit in the National Historic Landmark Factory Building, and participate in various crafts and demonstrations. Enjoy staff-led lectures on 19th century hygiene and Morristown’s infamous “Wallet Man,” Antione LeBlanc, as well as many other presentations. There are blacksmithing demonstrations, industrial archeology tours of the site’s functional over-shot waterwheel, children’s craft and dress-up station, and interpretations of 19th century death and mourning customs with our historically accurate hearse.
