Award Winning National Night Out at Mennen Sports Arena
MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Morris County Park Police’s National Night Out returns to Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township on Tuesday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with more FREE attractions and FREE food!  In addition to FREE hot dogs, dessert, and soda, there will be entertainment, ice skating, and many giveaways.

Scores of representatives from the United States Army and Coast Guard, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Secret Service, as well as dozens of municipal, county, and state law enforcement agencies will be participating and answering questions. Fire, police, and rescue units are on hand to demonstrate a wide range of skills to bring awareness to the community about the multitude of services that are available to them. Investigate and explore essential equipment of police, fire, and emergency vehicles, ranging from motorcycles to fire engines. Visit the horses of the Morris County Park Police’s award winning Mounted Equestrian Unit.  There will be a police motorcycle show and demonstration, as well as mounted demonstrations.

According to Lieutenant David B. Doyle of the Morris County Park Police, “It is our goal to educate the public in crime prevention practices while gathering support through community/police partnerships employing programs, such as National Night Out that sends a message to criminals that we act as a team in the fight against crime.”  Each year since 2007, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) recognized the Morris County’s National Night Out event as a National Award Winner.  According to Doyle, “The Morris County National Night Out for the past five years has received national recognition because it offers a comprehensive array of participating agencies to educate the public on available community services.”

The most popular program of the evening in addition to all the FREE activities is the FREE Child ID program, an initiative launched in 2000 that registers more than 1,000 children annually. Due to popular demand, there will be two child ID stations this year to accommodate everyone expeditiously.

You can’t miss this FREE night of fun and activities! For more information on participation, sponsorship, or volunteering, please contact Lieutenant Dave Doyle at ddoyle@morrisparks.net. For more information about National Night Out, visit www.morrisparks.net.
