History Comes to Life at Military Timeline

 
MORRISTOWN, NJ – Turn back the pages of history and trace the various timelines of military camp life on and off the battlefields that took place in different military eras, including The French and Indian War and the Civil War. This exciting program designed for families and history enthusiasts takes place at Cooper Gristmill in Chester Township. Talk to ‘Abe Lincoln’ while his tintype photo is taken, and speak to the soldiers and their superiors to hear fascinating and historic tales to gain additional insight into their life. Experience the thrill of live drills, roaring campfires, historic gear, utilities, artifacts, and more, all created so you can enjoy a full immersion experience.

Mark Sutherland, Manager of Historic Sites stated, “History enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy exploring the camp ground and hearing war stories from the uniformed re-enactors.” The journey beings on Friday, July 11, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an evening candlelight tour of the camp lead by re-enactors. The event resumes on Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and offers another evening candlelight tour of the camp from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday, July 13, the program is held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors (65+), and $3 for ages 4 – 16.
