Colonial Times Revisited!
MORRISTOWN, NJ. Travel back in time and revisit the Colonial era when the Jonathan Ogden family lived in the original farmhouse at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7, from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. Join an easily-paced walking tour that tell of the Ogdens and of the farmhouse’s connection with General Henry Knox, Commander of the Continental Army’s Artillery. On the farm, discover farming methods used during the American Revolution, and learn how broom corn is grown and made into brooms. Have fun with fibers by washing and carding fleece from the farm’s sheep, and try your hand at using drop spindles. To complete the visit to the farm, be sure to take part in playing some Colonial era games such as graces, cup and bowl, and rolling hoops.

Take a special tour of The Willows, a Gothic Revival mansion, to learn about former resident Rosanna Revere, wife of General Joseph Warren Revere. Halloween Fright Night Skate
MORRISTOWN, NJ – It’s time to celebrate Halloween . . . in July! Back by popular demand, Fright Night Skate returns to the inline rink at Central Park of Morris County in Parsippany. On Friday, July 12, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., the Morris County Park Commission will host a spooktacular summer Halloween party! Skate with the members of the Jerzey Derby Brigade and groove tunes played by DJ Earl. Participate in games, activities, and enter the costume contests. Win a prize for most original, funniest, and spookiest costumes! Admission is FREE so bring family and friends, and enjoy an evening of ghoulish good fun. Don’t forget your skates! Take a Spin in an Antique Car at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm
MORRISTOWN, NJ. This is your chance to take a spin in an antique car, and it will be delightfully around Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township. On Saturday, June 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the Oakland-Pontiac Car Club will have over 20 antique Oakland and Pontiac cars on display. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to take a ride in any of the 5 antique cars specially selected for touring and ride around the farm viewing the animals, gardens, barns, and the Gothic Revival mansion, The Willows. While you are at the Fosterfields Farm, be certain to visit the Fosterfields interactive transportation Exhibit and Carriage House where vehicles owned by the Foster family are on display. Meet member of the international car club and they show off their autos and discuss their history.
The Oakland-Pontiac Worldwide region of the Antique Automobile Club of America promotes and supports the education, restoration, and preservation of Oakland and Pontiac Automobiles form its years of conception in 1908 to and including 1958. Oakland cars began production in 1908 and were taken over by General Motors in the mid-1920s. By 1932, the Oakland name disappeared an only the Pontiac name was used.
Admission to the site is $6/adults; $5 seniors (65 and over), $4 children 4 – 16; $2 children (2 & 3), under 2 are FREE. Antique car rides are offered FREE as part of the regular admission to the site.

FREE Wood is Now Available through Morris County Park Commission Recycling Program
MORRISTOWN, NJ – Hurricane Sandy left trees down on our streets, in our yards, and throughout our county parks. The Morris County Park Commission has instituted Forest Material Recycling Locations, where fire wood is placed at specified locations throughout Morris County Park Commission parks for patron pickup and use. Help the Park Commission turn lemons into lemonade by utilizing the downed forest material to heat homes and for nighttime campfires.
Un-split firewood ranges in size from three-inch to thirty-inch rounds, and one to two feet long. Firewood is now available at Old Army, near the dog park, in Lewis Morris County Park, Morris Township and Tourne Park in Boonton Township. Forest Material is to be used for private use only, not for commercial or resale use. Cars and medium or regular pickup trucks and vans are invited to Lewis Morris Park and Tourne Park during park operating hours, 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. For more information, please contact info@morrisparks.net.

Civil War Encampment at Cooper Gristmill
MORRISTOWN, NJ – Honoring the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, camp activities are brought to life at Civil War Encampment at the Cooper Gristmill in Chester Township. From Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14 meet ‘Abe Lincoln’ and listen to the soldier’s stories told by re-enactors. Experience first-hand demonstrations of drills, build campfires, learn about wartime gear and utilities, view unique artifacts, and much more. Don’t miss the opportunity to tour the soldiers’ camp by candlelight on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Daytime activities will run on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours of the 1826 fully-operational gristmill are also available. 5K Race through History at Frantic Fun Run!
MORRISTOWN, NJ – Race through history on a cross-country style trail, blazing through the heart of Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township at Frantic Fun Run 5K on Tuesday, June 25. The event is open to varying skill levels. Runners receive custom moisture wicking t-shirts, and awards. Join the post-race party where registrants and spectators enjoy raffle prizes, DJ entertainment, and food.
